Timeless beauty

This month Glossybox is all about giving us some timeless treats for February. In two special design boxes with an old Hollywood theme, I love when we get a different design!

There are 5 products in this box with everything needed to give yourself a chic and timeless look. So let’s unbox!

First is one of my favourite brands Rituals with a hair and body spray in the Ritual of Mehr scent. This scent just reminds me of sunshine and holidays! It’s very fruity with sweet orange and cedar wood but light and not overpowering. You just spritz this over your hair and body to enjoy the sunshine feeling! This is a deluxe mini with 20ml for £5.90.

Next is an Illamasqua eyeliner mini in black, perfect for nailing those cat eye looks- always a classic. Another deluxe mini size worth £10.

Original Skin essence toner is our next product with aloe Vera and chamomile to help soothe the skin. This gives my skin a lovely feel after using it and is perfect prep before moisturising the face. This is a full size worth £34.99

Next up is The Beauty Crop BFF Brow mascara. I love a good brow gel as I’m a fan of laminated brows so anything that keeps my brows in place without them feeling stiff or crunchy is a winner. This is a full size and is £5

Finally a product I’ve had a few times in beauty boxes We are Paradoxx Repair 3 in 1 conditioner. I really like this it works really well, especially seeing as I have coloured hair. Because it’s a 3 in 1 you can use it as a basic conditioner, a hair mask or for taming flyaways. This is the deluxe mini size and is £10.50 for 50ml.

And that’s our February Glossybox unboxed! Hope you enjoyed, what was your fave item?

I’m very excited for next months box which is Glossy Wonderland themed, taking us on a beauty adventure with pops of colour and new skincare. Alice in Wonderland is my all time favourite movie so anything with this type of theme immediately grabs my attention!

There was Molton Brown Ylang-Ylang bath and shower gel, Le mini macaron Foot mask, Balance Me BHA exfoliating concentrate, Prai throat and décolletage creme, Diego Dalla Palma brow pencil and Comfort Zone Night cream.

I absolutely loved the foot mask, a real spa type treat and fab for giving my feet some tlc. It smelled lovely and my feet have been so soft. My other stand out from this month is the Molton Brown, smells gorgeous and it’s my fave colour – purple! The Comfort Zone night cream is a really good formula and my skin has felt so nice, really nourished and replenished!

So what’s your thoughts on this months box??

Look Good Feel Better with ASOS

A surprise box from ASOS this October with a charity collaboration supporting Look Good Feel Better. This box was £20 but all proceeds go to supporting the charity which helps people with cancer. They aim to help people with cancer emotionally and physically with workshops on skincare, makeup and grooming designed to help with wig advice, nail care or shaving with scars.

With 10 products and brands like Nars, Charlotte Tilbury, TooFaced, Benefit and HudaBeauty to name just a few this was one not to be missed.

My fave item has to be the Ruby Obessions palette from Huda Beauty, this is full size and worth £27 !

There are a few mini sizes with a Charlotte Tilbury lipstick in the shade Bitch Please and a gorgeous Nars lipcreme in a really vibrant red which reminds me of MACs Ruby Woo in a creme form.

There’s also a full size TooFaced primer which is £29 so this box is well worth the money based on the primer and Huda palette alone.

Alpha H moisturiser, Ouai hair oil, benefit mascara and a Real Techniques sponge round out the box and make this a real top to toe box!

Well done ASOS you’ve done it again!

Time to shine with ASOS

Hey everyone I’m back with another ASOS box! October’s box is themed to haircare and is perfect for the winter weather that’s coming! Let’s jump in and have a look at the awesome stuff in this box for just £12.

Monday haircare Smooth Shampoo

First up is Monday Haircare with their smooth shampoo, this is designed to fight frizz and uses Shea butter and coconut oil. First up it smells amazing and my hair felt incredible after using it.

Hair burst conditioner mini £5

Hairburst mini conditioner has avocado and coconut for strengthening properties and helps hair feel hydrated for longer. This is a great size for weekends away so I think I’ll be keeping it for that.

Ouai treatment masque

Ouai is one of my favourite hair brands and this treatment didn’t disappoint! Although this was for fine to medium hair it was still a lovely treatment for my thicker hair and it didn’t feel greasy afterward.

Camille Rose Coconut Water Detangling Hair Treatment

Also in this box is the Camille Rose hair treatment which smells of suncream and holidays (aka coconut!). This is perfect for a weekly treatment and I’ll be dreaming of a sunny getaway this winter while I use it! Great for thick hair and anyone with frizz prone or dry hair.

Easilocks hair oil

Last is a heat protection oil from Easilocks which is to apply before drying, straightening and curling to avoid damage. It’s a lovely lightweight oil and I am always up for anything that will help protect my hair from heat styling. I do try to limit the amount of heat I use lately but it’s great to make sure you have the right products to use and stop any damage.

Invisibobble sprunchie

An added extra to tie up your hair in style is this invisibobble sprunchie! It’s a cute linen style material and means you can tie your hair back without the headache. Invisibobbles are like stretchy spirals, almost like a phone cord, they stretch but still hold the hair in place without it being too tight.

And that’s everything in this box ! Amazing value for £12 , but what do you think?

If you want to try and grab next months box in November, I recommend getting the ASOS app and periodically searching for beauty box, from around the 1st of the month. Sometimes they go live on the 1st other times it’s been around the 6th.

Spa feeling with Glossybox

I can’t quite believe October is just around the corner and my September Glossybox has only just arrived! There’s been lots of issues lately with Glossybox and there are some really unhappy customers on their social channels.

Thankfully this months box was worth the wait and packed with goodies to make a spa day in your own home.

First was this Spa Cleansing brush from Spa to You worth £16. Great for giving your face a deeper clean than normal and exfoliating for a smoother complexion.

Every good spa has a range of different products for you to try and we got this lovely Figs & Rouge Clarity serum to try. They have been a featured brand before and one which I’ve really liked after trying their Wonder Charm serum which gives a beautiful glow to the skin so looking forward to trying this one.

Face masks are always a beauty box favourite and this is a Pearl brightening mask from Vitamasques which is a brand I really like. They have a great range of masks and I love taking some time out to use a sheet mask and relax!

After you’ve cleansed and used your masks and serum you can use this Skin & Co Face Gommage which helps in exfoliating the skin gently using winter truffle extract.

Finally a cute hairspray which is always handy to pop in your bag from Percy & Reed. I really like this hairspray as it’s not sticky and doesn’t dry your hair out.

There were also two treats included this month which was nice, especially when one is a Lindor chocolate bar! The other treat was a sample set of fragrance from Judith Leiber which can be worn separately or layered together.

I have a yearly subscription to Glossybox which costs 11.75 per month including postage and packaging. There are loads of different options if you wanted to sign up from a monthly rolling subscription to 3, 6 and 12 month plans like the one I do. I do have a referral code if you click here which will get you 20% off your first box.

What did you think of this box? Is it one you’d enjoy?

Celebrate the good times with Lookfantastic beauty box

September is starting to move in after the recent heatwave and the colder, darker nights are making an appearance which usually means a switch up with your skincare routine. This months Lookfantastic box is a fab one for skincare and Haircare to combat the dry weather that messes with your routine

First is a smoothing exfoliating product designed to help with keratosis pilaris or “chicken skin” as it’s commonly known. You just massage on 2-3 times a week and rinse in the shower.

Next is a By Terry nourishing lip balm, I’ve had this before from Lookfantastic quite a while ago and it’s gorgeous for your lips I absolutely love it. Also pictured is an eyeliner by 3ina , this is a felt tip style liquid eyeliner but it’s brown. You almost never get brown liners in beauty boxes they are usually black so this is a nice change! It’s really easy to use and stayed put all day when I used it so I was impressed with it.

A staple item in the beauty box world is of course the sheet mask and BeautyPro is one of the names that often comes up. This one is a brightening mask with collagen, vitamin C and aloe Vera. Perfect for this time of year and my skin definitely felt soothed afterward.

Next is a Christophe Robin hair mask, super simple to use just apply after shampooing and leave on your hair for 10 mins. This one is packed with aloe Vera and is great for all hair types. I really liked this because it made my hair feel super soft and hydrated. My hair is mid length so I will get a couple uses out of this as well.

Next is an eye cream from SVR which can also help with redness and irritation so perfect for anyone with sensitive skin. I love a good eye cream so this is right up my street!

Septembers celebration of beauty box

I’m currently subscribed on a monthly basis and pay £15 including postage and packaging for my box and always find this a great box with usually a skincare focus as well as some tools like brushes/ sponges ect.

Lookfantastic have a range of subscriptions available here with a rolling subscription where you pay month by month as well as 3, 6 and 12 month subscriptions.

What do you think of this one ?

ASOS Buyers pick box – is it worth it?

If you’ve ever wanted to know the cult beauty products the professionals swear by, this is the box for you! Filled with the ASOS buyers ultimate summer picks this box is a must!

June’s ASOS box is surprisingly still available and I’m not sure if it’s because of the price increase? This box was £20 instead of the usual £12 but was it better value? Let’s run through and find out!

Bareminerals lipstick mini

First is a Bareminerals lipstick. It’s a mini size but I really like the shade and I sometimes do prefer the small size in a lipstick as I do prefer gloss and liquid lip products generally. It’s a lovely pink rose shade so it’s a nice everyday colour. Bareminerals is a brand I really like, I’ve been using their face powder and have previously used the lashtopia mascara from them which are both really nice products.

Cerave Smoothing Cream £12

Next we have CeraVe Smoothing cream a moisturising cream to help with rough or bumpy skin conditions like Keratosis Pilaris. This does have 0.5% salicylic acid which gently exfoliates the skin. Because of this it’s not one I can use as it really would irritate my psoriasis so I’ll be passing this on.

Indeed no acid pads £15.95

These indeed laboratories skin pads are all about exfoliating the skin to get clearer brighter skin and can be used morning and night. I’ve really enjoyed using these and have seen definite improvement in my skin texture, I will be re-purchasing these for sure!

Revolution Lift and Define Mascara £9
Ouai Detox Shampoo sample

Lift and Define mascara from Revolution I had not tried before. Described as a 5D mascara to lengthen, lift, define, stretch and volumise with just one coat- thats a lot! It’s a black mascara and it’s quite a creamy style formula. I really liked this and I think I probably would buy it again. I had been using Maybelline Sky High but I feel like I don’t get the volume in my lashes like I do with this.

I really like Ouai products and I’ve used quite a few now so I’m interested to see what this is like. The Ouai Detox shampoo is a sample size. Designed to deep clean hair and unblock clogged follicles, with a gentle formula suitable for all hair types. Apple cider vinegar helps strengthen weakened hair and improve lustre by lowering the pH levels of the hair and scalp. I’m hanging onto this until I need to do a clarifying wash on my hair but Ouai is a brand I really like and I use their curl creme and wave spray so I have no doubt this will be great!

Next is a Glamglow Supermud mini, this is 15g and priced at £16. This I’ve had before in another box and it’s brilliant for any blemishes, an ideal mask for treating any small areas. You just apply for 5-20 mins and then cleanse. I’ve had a few breakouts lately and this has been awesome at calming them down.

This Works Stress Check mood manager spray mini which is £15 for 35ml usually. I love these aromatherapy style sprays and this one has Ylang ylang, neroli and patchouli scents which are really relaxing. Created through fMRI brain imaging technology to help modify mood, reduce feelings of stress and restore a sense of calm to an agitated mind. You can mist it over skin, clothes, furnishings or bed linens to help keep your mind clear and positive. I like to use this in my office space and bedroom.

Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream, priced at 15ml for £29.40 is our next item. I love this , it’s quite a rich cream and so I prefer to apply it at night. It aims to improve your skins firmness and elasticity. Elemis is one of those brands where I feel like you really get what you pay for, it’s such good quality and I always feel like I see results from using it.

Invisibobble are another brand which I love, these cord style ties especially, for not ruining your hair and getting tangled like others do in my hair! I was always sceptical before I tried them but they still hold your hair really well and you can also prevent headaches from tying your hair too tight with these. You get three in this pack for £5.99.

In total the full size and deluxe minis in the box cost £88.44 which is great value considering the cost of the box was only £20!

I’d definitely love it if ASOS did more special editions like this every so often, I love trying new products and even at £20 instead of £12 I still think it’s fantastic value for money.

Dreaming of paradise

Glossybox this month had a Dreaming of Paradise theme which was all about summer products to take you from pool to party. In my case it’s more like paddling pool to dinner as I don’t think it’s likely to be going abroad anytime soon. I’m just as happy with a sunny day and a BBQ in the garden to be fair and the weather lately has been so lovely, summer is definitely here!

Glossybox June 2021

First out of the box is Oui Cherie Lip Oil from The Beauty Crop in the shade Sacrebleu! Now, on first glance I was dubious about this as it explains it’s a pH changing lip oil so I wasn’t expecting much to be honest. However I was pleasantly surprised as it actually changed colour as I was applying and gave a really nice tinted berry colour. Now with it being a pH based product it should react differently on every person, it was a fun item to include and it is super moisturising and smells gorgeous.

Oui Cherie Lip Oil from The Beauty Crop £13

Next is a Vitamin C Face Scrub from Nip + Fab. I recently took part in the Glamour Big Beauty Call and Vitamin C is really being touted as the most beneficial and easy to use product for your skin. I’ve introduced the Nip+Fab Vitamin C toner recently (this was in one of my advent calendars) and loved the results so I was excited to try the face scrub. It’s a really nice product lovely smell and gentle on the skin. It’s designed to soften and cleanse as well as exfoliate the skin. I’m going to use this 1-2 times a week to give me a nice glowy skin!

Vitamin C Face Scrub from Nip + Fab

Also in this box is a full size Mitchell and Peach English Leaf Body oil. Last year we got a bath oil from this brand and I find their scents really strong. This oil has changed my mind though as it’s really light and fresh smelling. It’s a blend of citrus, coriander, basil, mint and floral oils, giving it a freshly cut grass scent. Got to say when I read it smells like cut grass I thought that was a bit weird! However I actually really like it, I guess it’ll be one of those marmite things- you’ll either love it or hate it!

Mitchell and Peach English Leaf Body oil £23

Another full size with a Micellar water from a Garnier. Although this is quite a basic product I was really pleased to get this in my box, it’s something I know I will use as I use reusable washable cotton pads and makeup cloths so this is ideal to use with those for more stubborn makeup but still gentle on the skin.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water £1.99

And finally a Christophe Robin Regenerating Hair Mask, I’ve actually had this before in a Lookfantastic box and it was soooo good for my hair! So I’m delighted to get another one, it literally leaves your hair so soft and you only have to leave it on for a few minutes, perfect if you don’t have loads of time. Also you only need a tiny bit to emulsify between your hands and apply so although this pot is small it really does last for ages. For anyone following Curly Girl method, this is an approved product you can use as well.

Christophe Robin Regenerating Mask with Prickly Pear (Deluxe mini size) £10.80

Julys sneak peek is a beautiful looking bronzing powder from KNDR worth £14. The July theme is Beauty Treasures which sounds lovely and I’m looking forward to seeing what products we get next!

Elements of Beauty with Lookfantastic

This post contains affiliate links

Just like that we are halfway through the year and, after a ropey start, it seems as though the world is slowly moving again. The start of a new month is marked for me by the arrival of my beauty boxes and Lookfantastic were first out of the gate this time!

The June Elements Lookfantastic box

There are 6 items in the box and this months theme is Elements, chosen in respect of World Environment Day and World Ocean Day which both take place in June.

The first item I came across is the Dr Lipp hydrating lip balm in it’s beautiful red packaging. I’ve used the sweet potato tint last year and really loved it. This one however is formulated with Red Radish pigment and gives a lovely red tint when applied. An ideal product for the summer months when you are relaxing in the garden and don’t want an overdone look.

Dr Lipp Red Radish Tint

Next we have an ESPA 24 hour Eye Moisturiser. I go through a lot of eye creams lately as it’s my main area of concern as I get older! This is lovely, as to be expected from ESPA really nice quality and definitely very hydrating. It has a range of essential oils including Evening primrose and Jojoba to boost the hydrating properties.

ESPA Eye Cream

I’ve had this next product in another beauty box and absolutely loved it so was excited to see it here again. It’s the Rituals, The Ritual of Jing mild body scrub. Firstly this smells amazing with sacred lotus and coconut oil it’s just a dreamy scent. Secondly it’s so incredibly gently on the skin but still manages to buff the dead skin cells and also manages to not dry out the skin at the same time.

Rituals The Ritual of Jing Body Scrub

Next is the So Eco Gentle Facial Buffer, which is meant to remove dead skin from the face. Personally I think it’s a little too harsh for my skin but I would use it on the body instead. So Eco is a really socially responsible company, they endeavour to create products that can be recycled and also have a mission to plant trees which offset their carbon footprint.

So Eco Gentle Facial Buffer

Next up is Philip Kingsleys Finishing Touch styling serum, this is packed in a bio plastic bottle made from sugarcane, making it totally recyclable and it’s also manufactured in a sustainable way. This is for application to lengths and ends of hair prior to blow drying to get a smoother sleeker finish to your hair.

Philip Kingsley Polishing Serum

Lastly we have a Balance Me product, Lightweight Milky Cleanser. This is really effective at removing makeup but also feels really gentle for sensitive skin thanks to the formula. It’s a gentle exfoliant with salicylic acid and willow bark, ideal for a first cleanse in the evening when you want to really get all of your makeup or SPF off.

Balance Me Cleansing Milk

And that’s this months box! The July sneek peek is an Elemis Superfood Glow Priming Moisturiser. Elemis is such a popular brand and so well liked for its formulas so I am looking forward to trying that.

Lookfantastic have a range of subscriptions available here with a rolling subscription where you pay month by month as well as 3, 6 and 12 month subscriptions. They have a fab offer for June where you can receive your first box for just £5 with code JUNEBB5! Valid until 30th June.

I’m currently subscribed on a monthly basis and pay £15 including postage and packaging for my box and always find this a great box with usually a skincare focus as well as some tools like brushes/ sponges ect.

What do you all think ? Anyone want to try it out for £5 for the June box with the above code?

ASOS Giving your hair some TLC !

This month ASOS brought us not one but two gorgeous haircare boxes with goodies for giving your hair some tlc. I waited a little while before posting as I wanted to give a better opinion on the products and there were some great ones!

Both boxes were £12 and were designed to really give your hair some extra care, the difference being one was aimed at curly/ textured hair and the other at dry and damaged hair. Being on a bit of a journey with discovering my wavy bordering on curls at times hair , I picked up both boxes as there were items in both I wanted to try.

Time to treat your hair to some TLC box

First is the box for dry and damaged hair with a new product from Frank Body, the Caffeine Scalp Scrub. I love scalp scrubs as they are great for getting rid of any psoriasis flakes and I usually use the Ouai one which is a sugar based scrub. I’ve used a Frank Body Scrub before and really liked it so was interested to see how it would be as a hair product. Surprisingly doesn’t smell of coffee! It actually has a minty fragrance which is really refreshing on your scalp. I would definitely repurchase as it has helped with the stubborn patches of psoriasis I have at the back of my scalp.

Frank Body Caffeinated Scalp Scrub Full Size £13.95

Next we have a shampoo from Living Proof the PHD triple detox. I found this quite drying on my hair but I would say it’s useful to have in your bathroom to use as a clarifying cleanse if you have any product build up.

Living Proof Triple Detox Shampoo 60ml £10

A sample size from We are Paradoxx of their Repair 3in1 conditioner for ends. This was nice but a pretty small sample so I don’t know that I saw a difference with it that wowed me.

We are Paradoxx Repair 3in1 conditioner sample

I loved this sample of BeautyWorks Argan Oil serum so much, I ordered the full size! First it smells gorgeous and the texture is so light, not sticky at all. It glides into the hair and just takes care of any little frizzy areas or dry sections of hair. I used this when my hair was curly and straight and loved it on both looks.

BeautyWorks Argan Serum 30ml £3.95

Olaplex is an iconic haircare range and they just recently launched the No 8 Hairmask. I absolutely loved this sample, again one I went and bought a full size of. I got two applications out of this tube for my hair and it only needed 10 mins to stay on the hair. It was soft and and smooth, literally it felt amazing. I would highly recommend for anyone with dry heat damaged and coloured hair to give it a go.

Olaplex No 8 Bond Intense Moisture Mask 20ml Sample 100ml Full size £26
Time to give them Curls Some Extra TLC

This second box is aimed at curly/wavy/textured hair and is perfect for me at the moment as I am really trying to look after my hair texture and wear my hair more naturally which is a loose wave/ curl.

So first we have the Olaplex No 3 Hair Perfector, which is full size. The No 3 from Olaplex is to strengthen damaged ends, again I’ve seen a big difference in the look and feel of my hair using this and I’m definitely going to repurchase when this one runs out.

Next is the Shea Moisture Red Palm and Cocoa Pudding which is really aimed at 3A curls and 4C coils so I will pass this along to someone who can make better use of it than me.

The Cantu Avocado Curling Cream I really liked as again when following a curl method on my hair it left it really well moisturised and formed a good wave. This was a full size but I would definitely repurchase.

The last item was from one of my favourite haircare brands Ouai and it’s their Curl Creme. Again this was a really great find and is silicone free and protects the hair as well as adding shine. I loved the texture of this and the way my hair looked afterward. It smells amazing as well and is the same scent as their North Bondi perfume which is a kind of floral scent.

Ouai Curl Creme Sample size Full Size is £25

All in all these boxes offered amazing value for money, with 4 full sized products between them and I’ve found some great new products to help with my hair both in terms of damage and texture.

If you want to try and grab next months box in June, I recommend getting the ASOS app and periodically searching for beauty box, from around the 1st of the month. Sometimes they go live on the 1st other times it’s been around the 6th and there isn’t really ever any notice given. They do tend to be a little delayed when there is a bank holiday as well.
